Tank Worlds : Miniaturising the Gigantic
We are all bodies of water
Hydrofeminism is the concept that we are all bodies of water and are therefore connected to other bodies of water. Water is the connection to past, current and future cycles of life. The initial experiments experiment with different textile meshes and water particulates. The various particulates can be thought of as types of pollution or as ambiguous materials at a decontextualized scale. The video links the layers of material experiments; this layering represents the cyclical nature of life and water and constitutes how bodies of water are connected to each other through the passing of time. The collage layers all of the previous experiments together. Collaging allows the information to be seen as connected entities rather than individual artefacts. The concept of decontextualized scale drawn from the photographs and the passing of time drawn from the video offer an opportunity to see these different interpretations of water in unison. This collage thus is a visual, tangible way to grapple with how water is comprised of overlapping trajectories that holds a multiplicity of scales — the molecular, the human body and the universe — all in one entity.
